April and Avi celebrated their marriage in the beautiful valley of Franschoek. It was a multicultural, three-day event packed full of activities. With our camera bags packed and our batteries charged, Chane and I climbed into the car and drove to Le Franschhoek Hotel and Spa to be the wedding videographers at this Hindu/Christian celebration.
From the moment we arrived we knew that we were in for a fantastic time. We were greeted by the amazing couple and had a small meeting to discuss their preferences with regards to their wedding video. (The note at the beginning of the video and the time reversal was their good idea!)
We met the photographer, Hailey Nixon from Hayley Takes Photos; and together we started the process of capturing the memories of a lifetime.
What I found most amazing about this wedding was that it was a cross between a traditional Hindu wedding as well as a traditional Christian wedding. It just comes to show that love knows no boundaries.
During the first day of filming we celebrated the Sangeet ceremony, literally translating into Night of Music. All the guests attended and participated in this ceremony, showcasing their musical or dance talents. To kick this amazing talent-show off, we were surprised by a group of talented Zulu dancers, which everyone enjoyed.
The next day we filmed two ceremonies – a Christian wedding ceremony done in the Chapel of Le Franschhoek and a Hindu wedding ceremony that was set up in the gardens. Both of these events were as magical as the night before.
That afternoon we were able to capture some of the most magnificent photoshoot shots, which really took the wedding video to the next level. I think what I enjoyed the most was that we were able to do photoshoots in various outfits with the bridal couple.
What followed was a night full of dancing, laughter, love and happiness. The DJ had such a party vibe going with his lights and music that the dancefloor stayed packed well into the night.
